Introduction
This species is endemic to relatively high elevations in central Colombia. Miller (2009) considers it to be the sister species of S. discinota from western Venezuela.Characteristics
One of the larger members of the genus, S. dimidiata is most similar to S. discinota, with which it shares both superficial wing pattern characters and genitalic morphology (e. g., an extremely long vesica). The two may be distinguished by the slightly more distally extended orange patch in S. dimidiata and subtle genitalic differences (they are also allopatric, and have been viewed by prior authors as subspecies).References
