Pistoria replacement name
Pistoria nigropunctata
Mambara junior homonym
Andrew V. Z. BrowerIntroduction
A monobasic genus from the mountains of New Guinea. The butterfly is superficially similar to a variety of other Papuan lycaenids, with which it may be involved in a mimetic complex (Parsons 1999).
Nomenclature
In 1908, Bethune-Baker managed to publish the same generic name for this butterfly and for a group of limacodid moths. The latter has precedence by two weeks, and Hemming's name is a replacement for the junior homonym.
