Acrophtalmia C. Felder & R. Felder 1861

Andrew V. Z. Brower
Containing group: Ragadiina

Introduction

A. albofasciata, A. artemis, A. leto, A. luzonica and A. yamashitai occur in the Philippines, A. leuce and A. windorum occur on Sulawesi and Sula, and A. chione occurs in the Moluccas and western Irian Jaya (Tennent et al. 2010). Unlike most satyrines, known larval hosts of Acrophtalmia species are members of the lycophyte genus Selaginella. Vane-Wright & de Jong (2003) consider that A. leuce and A. windorum may be a single species.

This page is a Tree of Life Branch Page.

Each ToL branch page provides a synopsis of the characteristics of a group of organisms representing a branch of the Tree of Life. The major distinction between a branch and a leaf of the Tree of Life is that each branch can be further subdivided into descendent branches, that is, subgroups representing distinct genetic lineages.

For a more detailed explanation of the different ToL page types, have a look at the Structure of the Tree of Life page.
